This week, it's Sylvie D'Aoust with the Secrets from the Saddle- All things Cycling- welcome Sylvie!
Why did you start your podcast?
There are lots of podcasts that feature pro athletes or talk tech. Because my cycling background is extensive: 2001-2009: started with a spin studio, 2000 MTN Bike raced 2005-2013 Started my own women's master race team: I was a racer, manager, coach, sometimes all three in one year.2008-present: Founded a Women's only road cycling club: CycleFitCHICKS I'm a Level 3 National performance coach I coach for my club I conduct Learn to ride clinics and Bike Maintenance clinics.
I became a Race official: commissaire and within the club I started organizing Regional sanctioned races And just recently, I've been asked by cycling Canada to coach local Para-athletes
There are SO many aspects of CYCLING and I wanted a platform to explore all of them.
Through my years I have acquired lots of contacts and I have some pretty cool interviews coming up. I also wanted to have FUN with this and make people laugh all while providing serious Cycling content as a coach
What has been the best thing about running your podcast?
It's new, meeting the people, making new connections and driving new cyclist to me cycling skills courses
Who is your perfect listener and how do you help them?
New to cycling to Novice riders. I remember being new to riding and some epiphanies I had while riding. I want to try and save a new cyclist the years it takes to come to the realization that cycling requires some skills ;o)
Have you made a profit from your podcast? If not, do you plan too?
Not yet. YES I fully plan on driving people to my cycling skills online courses.
What is your favourite thing about podcasting?
Learning and sharing what people are doing, especially those who are giving back through cycling. Episode 3. Bobby's BIkes
